Poster Galaxy formation simulations at the Frontier Galaxy formation simulations at the Frontier

Description

We present KIARA-RT, a fully coupled cosmological radiative transfer hydrodynamical simulation designed to model the Epoch of Reionization (EoR). Our framework builds upon the well-established KIARA galaxy formation model—an advanced successor to SIMBA—and integrates the moment-based radiative transfer solver GEAR-RT within the SWIFT cosmological code. To further enhance the accuracy of early radiation modeling, we incorporate the BPASS spectral model to capture the stellar radiation lifecycle. Future developments will include active galactic nuclei (AGN) as additional radiation sources and a more direct computation of molecular hydrogen dissociation rates. Ultimately, KIARA-RT aims to generate simulations that can be compared with JWST observations, providing insights to constrain galaxy formation theories.
