The NAM conference dinner and RAS awards ceremony will be on Tuesday 8th July held at the Civic Centre in Newcastle. The Civic Centre is an attractive modern building in a pleasant setting with many nice architectural touches inside and out.
We will start the evening with a drinks reception around 6:15pm followed by dinner in the banqueting hall from 7pm. The RAS awards ceremony will be split into three blocks and scheduled between the dinner courses. The dinner and awards ceremony is expected to finish sometime around 10pm.
Coaches will be provided to transport participants to and from the Civic Centre, leaving from the bus stop near Trevelyan College over 5:00-5:30pm - someone from the Durham LOC will be there to direct people onto the coaches. This pick-up point is approximately 10 minutes walk; the shuttle bus between the TLC and the college accommodation (see Accessibility page) will make an additional stop there on Tuesday afternoon. Participants are also free to make their own way to Newcastle, which can be conveniently reached by train, a 15 min journey. The Civic Centre can then be reached from the train station either on foot (15-20 min walk) or with a short metro ride (the closest metro station is Haymarket). For those wanting to travel by other means the post code of the Civic Centre is NE1 8QH. The coaches will return to Durham over 10:30-10:45pm.
